This week Hal Eisner interviewed me about “Space 134,” a concept to build a series of parks over the 134 Freeway as it cuts across the middle of Glendale. The concept plan, developed by Melani Smith and Amber Hawkes of Melendrez, has also been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Streetblog LA and other media outlets.

The project was beta tested by a Woodbury University 4B architecture studio last spring, taught by Casey Hughes and myself. Students Nare Gabrielyan, Devin Gharakhanian and Oleg Kurilenko deserve extra thanks for volunteering time last summer to present their ideas to Melendrez at the project kickoff meeting.
