Space 134: Urban Design Studio

This fourth-year design studio explored the possibilities of building over and adjacent to the 134 Freeway corridor as it cuts through Downtown Glendale. Students explored concepts of scale, infrastructure, megastructures and planning.

On behalf of @placeworksinc , I’m very pleased to have accepted an Award of Merit in Neighborhood Planning from @apa_losangeles for the Glendora Station Area Vision Plan. Adopted in July 2025, the Vision Plan is intended to guide transit-oriented development around the future Metro A Line Station, which opened in September 2025. The Station Area Plan covers approximately a half mile radius around the future Glendora Station. PlaceWorks worked closely with the City and included a multifaceted outreach approach including a public open house, online survey, and planning commission study sessions. On behalf of @placeworksinc , I’m very pleased to have accepted an Award of Merit in Neighborhood Planning from @apa_losangeles for the Glendora Station Area Vision Plan. Adopted in July 2025, the Vision Plan is intended to guide transit-oriented development around the future Metro A Line Station, which opened in September 2025. The Station Area Plan covers approximately a half mile radius around the future Glendora Station. The Plan identifies how to accommodate housing around the station and policies to implement the vision. On behalf of @placeworksinc, I’m very pleased to have accepted an Award of Merit in Neighborhood Planning from @apa_losangeles for the Glendora Station Area Vision Plan. Adopted in July 2025, the Vision Plan is intended to guide transit-oriented development around the future Metro A Line Station, which opened in September 2025. The Plan includes thoughtful development scenarios that provide a diverse mix of housing intensity and development types to accomplish the City’s housing element goals, while creating a dynamic transit-oriented neighborhood appropriate to the scale of community. In recognition of the 100 year (and 1 month) anniversary of the motel, some motel signs from Michigan, Tennessee, Arizona, California, Mississippi and Texas.
